Arnold Schönberg
Live performances by Andrew Infanti
“Somebody had to be me” — Austrian-American Arnold Schönberg composer (1874-1951) never had the slightest doubt about his historical importance.
Andrew Infanti was trained by musicians like Robert Helps who venerated the modern master, but mostly for the extreme expressivity of his works.
Without being a pianist, Schönberg composed in a fascinatingly rigorous manner for the keyboard. Andrew Infanti particularly appreciates the works from the crucial “middle period” (Opp. 23 and 25 composed between 1916 and 1924), and offers samples of his concert performances.
• 5 Klavierstücke Op. 23 (1916-23), n° 2 Sehr rasch - Etwas ruhiger im Ausdruck
• Suite für Klavier Op. 25 (1921-24), mouvement III Intermezzo
